Big Data - The first in a series of Cybersecurity introduction podcasts. The new economies of data stem from the value, that your personal data can be sold for, the trail you leave behind you wherever you visit online, Amazon, TikTok, Instagram, email, FB etc. This is big-data, and with a big value, whether it be from a marketing perspective, or from hackers trying to gain access for financial gain, or to disrupt the services that you take for granted. It's not an exaggeration to suggest that cyber security experts and defensive software are in a constant battle to help keep you, your families and your schools safe from daily attacks.
Cybersecurity encompasses everything around the protection and privatisation of essential documents and information against digital attacks. With the world becoming increasingly more developed and dependant on technology, it’s crucial to understand and know what cybersecurity is, and what can be done to prevent digital attacks from harming you and your family in the future.
It might seem like criticism is a negative aspect of life, but the way in which we react to criticism tends to reflect the way it is given to us. If you’re to become a more well-rounded, rational individual, who learns from your mistakes and better yourself for the future, then this a skill you’ll need to know.
Essentially, critical thinking is when we analyse facts and figures in order to form considered and sensible judgement and opinions. Each and every day we receive new information about a plethora of subjects and items that gives us different perspectives and different opinions on those very things.
It’s important to understand what makes counsellors and coaches different in order to best suit you, should you need them. Whilst counselling is more about dealing with mental and emotional issues through analysing previous traumas, coaching tends to work with your positives, and help you to achieve your goals by realising your own abilities.
Coping is all about effectively dealing with, and managing stressful situations. Of course, we’re all different and so the way in which we cope with these things are going to be different, however, regardless of who you are, and how you deal with what life throws at you, there are some universal factors when it comes to coping.
When you think about it, the word ‘Feedback’ focuses solely on actions and tasks taken in the past. It focuses on events that have gone by, and cannot be changed. This is where Feed Forward comes in. As you might have figured from the name, feedforward, in a similar way to constructive feedback, looks at things in the future.
Conflict, is where two opposing factors meet head on, for example, disagreeing, maybe arguing, with someone, and resolution is the solution behind the conflict in order to prevent it from happening, to prevent further disagreement. Conflict is something that is best avoided as it can be unpleasant to experience, however if you do find yourself or someone you care about in conflict, finding a resolution, a solution, that is peaceful, and that helps everyone is the best way to assure that it doesn’t happen again.
Collaboration is the process of working together with another person or persons in order to achieve something. This could be working together on a project for work or school, perhaps you’re trying to fix or build something or it could just be playing a game with a friend. If you want people to help you when you need it most, you will need to collaborate with others, and to make sure you get what you’re after you’ll need to know how to collaborate effectively, and why it’s important to succeed.
An argument that many climate deniers use is that the climate has always changed throughout the Earth’s history and therefore we shouldn’t worry about it because ‘it will sort itself out’. At a very basic level, they do have a point, the Earth’s atmosphere has always changed, but we’re making it worse than ever before. What can we, can you, do about it?
