Importance of Time Management

We only have 24 hours in a day, so it’s crucial that we make the most of them. In life, we have to balance our duties and jobs against each other. We’ve got to take into consideration our career, family life, social life and everything in between. So how can we do this? Well, with effective time management. If you’ve ever wondered how some people manage to get so much done in a day, it often comes down to the way they use their time. It’s no surprise that the people who can manage their time effectively often have the most success in their lives. Time plays a large role in our lives, it affects all, that’s why learning how to manage it, is crucial to living a good life.
How can you Manage Time?
Managing time doesn’t mean physically altering it. That’s impossible. What it means is splitting up your daily activities so that you can maximise your output.
Imagine this scenario:
You’ve got a lot of work to do, whether it’s schoolwork or something at your job, whatever it is, is important and needs to be finished today. But you’ve also told your friends you’ll meet them later. Add to this, the fact that you promised your family you’d watch a film with them in the evening. Now, this isn’t a particularly taxing day. In fact, for many people this is a standard style of day. In essence, it’s to go to work, meet with friends, watch a film. That doesn’t sound too hard, in fact it sounds quite nice. The fact is however, if you don’t manage your time correctly, this day, regardless of how simple it is, and many others like it can quickly become unpleasant. Let’s say for example, you don’t finish the work because you were procrastinating doing it. You knew it was going to be hard, so you skipped it. But meeting with your friends isn’t hard. The problem is though, you’re prioritising easy, more comfortable events over more pressing ones. Instead of watching the film like you promised, you feel guilty and stressed and end up doing the work at home. This is an issue in itself, given that now the work isn’t going to be completed at the same standard, and you’re putting work commitments before family ones. This is why time management is so important to our everyday lives.
