Empathy
On the other side of the coin, empathy is needed too. Just like communication, without empathy it can be difficult to come to a dual resolution. If you are explaining your situation to someone, you want them to try to understand what it’s like to be in your position so that the conflict can be resolved in your favour. When they are explaining to you what their position is like, they want you to be thinking the same thing. Empathy goes both ways and it’s crucial in coming to resolutions over conflict.
