What is the circadian rhythm?
Circadian Rhythm, or Circadian Rhythms are 24-hour cycles that follow our changes in our physical, mental or behavioural routine. They are natural processes that are influenced by our surroundings, and can be observed in plants, animals and even microbes, which are driven by the circadian Clock. Circadian rhythms are influenced by the area around us, and this includes light, temperature and redox (oxidisation) cycles.

Circadian rhythms are present in almost all living organisms, including humans, animals, plants, and even some bacteria. These rhythms are primarily synchronized with the daily light-dark cycle of the Earth, but they can also be influenced by other environmental cues, such as temperature and social interactions.
Circadian rhythms play a crucial role in maintaining overall health and well-being. When the circadian rhythm is properly aligned with the external environment, it supports optimal sleep, cognitive function, mood regulation, and physiological processes. However, disturbances to the circadian rhythm, such as irregular sleep patterns or exposure to artificial light at inappropriate times, can lead to sleep disorders, mood disorders, compromised immune function, metabolic imbalances, and other health issues.
Understanding and respecting the circadian rhythm is essential for promoting good sleep habits, maintaining a balanced lifestyle, and optimizing overall health and performance. By aligning our daily routines, including sleep, nutrition, and physical activity, with our individual circadian rhythms, we can enhance our well-being and maximize our potential.
