Types of procrastinators
Procrastinators can be split into four main groups. Each group is different as they are dependent on the reasoning behind you own personal procrastination. The groups in question are:
ANXIOUS PROCRASTINATION – This form of procrastination is the ‘fear of failure’ procrastination. The anxiousness that we feel before starting a task for fear of failure or feedback will prevent us from carrying out these tasks successfully. People with poor time management often have anxious procrastination as they wait longer to complete tasks, and as a result, end up cramming work into a small time period, which can lead to the work being of poorer quality, which in turn can lead to more anxiousness.
FUN PROCRASTINATION – Fun procrastination is the mindset that involves dreading doing a specific task, whilst there are other activities they would rather be doing. This leads to a lack of concentration as the mind is elsewhere.
P.O.T. (Plenty Of Time) PROCRASTINATION – This type is probably the most common type of procrastination. The P.O.T. procrastination type put off the work as the deadline for it is a long way away. For those tasks that don’t have a deadline for example, then the person in question will keep on putting it off for any reason that they see fit.
PERFECTIONIST PROCRASTINATION – The chances of doing something perfectly are slim, especially when you’re most likely working to a high level already. These procrastinators understand that what they’re going to produce most likely won’t be perfect and so but off doing the work until they have to, allowing them to complete said work to an adequate standard.
